This stream is designed for entrepreneurs with the financial means and farm management expertise to start a new farm or acquire an existing farm in Avalanche Immigrations.
Candidates must submit their application to the Alberta Advantage Immigration Program (AAIP) for review, along with a planned business plan. The AAIP will work with Avalanche Immigration to ensure that the business plan is practical and fulfills the demands of Alberta’s farm industry.
Note: If the AAIP detects fraud or deception in an application, a candidate may be barred from reapplying to the AAIP for up to 5 years.
To be eligible for this stream, applicants must fulfill the following criteria both when their application is mailed to the AAIP and when the AAIP evaluates their application. Meeting these requirements does not ensure nomination or permanent residency.
Farm management abilities
Candidates must demonstrate farm management abilities.
Enough financial resources
Candidates must be able to invest at least CDN $150,000 in an Alberta primary production agricultural enterprise.
Documents demonstrating a minimum net worth of CDN $150,000 or evidence of the capacity to obtain an equivalent amount of cash from other sources must be submitted.
Candidates may be forced to invest more than the minimal amount.
Investment in primary production Candidates must detail their investment plans in a suggested business plan and submit it to the AAIP along with their application.
Avalanche Immigration will analyze the proposed business plan to verify that the agricultural enterprise meets the criteria of the Alberta farming industry.
Priority will be given to applications that show the strongest chance for development in relation to Alberta’s agri-food goals.
If you have an ongoing nomination that has not expired and/or is eligible for renewal under another AAIP stream, you are unable to apply under the AAIP Farm Stream. Candidates are only permitted to get one AAIP Nomination Certificate.
