A Tourist/Visitor Visa is issued by Canada (technically known as Temporary Resident Visa or TRV). You may need a temporary residence visa to visit Canada for business, leisure, transit, or to remain with the family.
A Visitor Visa is necessary to enter Canada unless you are a Canadian Citizen or a Visa-Exempt National. You must obtain your TRV before entering Canada at your Point of Entry (POE). It must be displayed to POE officials. Each admission allows you to stay in Canada for a maximum of six months in a twelve-month period.
An applicant must satisfy the following conditions to apply for a Visitor visa:
Visitors to Canada can stay for up to six months. The CBSA may authorize you to stay at the port of entry for less than or more than 6 months. They will stamp your passport with the date you must depart. If they do not stamp your passport, you can stay in Canada for 6 months from the date you arrived.
